Full-Time Family Service Worker (Summer Term Position)

Ronald McDonald House Manitoba provides essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare. Our programs include Ronald McDonald House (located at 62 Juno St.), which provides accommodations for out-of-town families, and Ronald McDonald House Family Room, a place of respite for both Winnipeg and rural Manitoba families inside HSC Children’s Hospital.

We are currently inviting applications for the immediate start of two full-time Family Service Workers. The first Family Service Worker will support the Ronald McDonald House program with shifts Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The second Family Service Worker will support the Ronald McDonald House Family Room program with shifts Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a summer term position taking place over 12 weeks from June 1st to August 31st.

The first full-time Family Service Worker supports the day-to-day operations of Ronald McDonald House and reports to the Family Services Associate. The second full-time Family Service Worker supports the day-to-day operations of Ronald McDonald House Family Room and reports to the Family Room Supervisor. These positions are required to provide a compassionate guest experience at all times for all families who require our support

Successful candidates must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Family Service Workers should be adaptable and feel comfortable interacting with families from diverse backgrounds. These full-time positions are involved in House/Family Room operations and also serve as a resource for families, social workers, hospital staff. The candidates must exude a caring, positive attitude and be a team player willing to help as needed.

Successful candidates must provide a current (less than 6 months) and satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and clear Child Abuse Registry Check with Vulnerable Sector Check. General Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support guest families
  • Assist with Ronald McDonald House/Ronald McDonald House Family Room programming
  • Support House/Family Room operations (policies, procedures, facility maintenance assistance)
  • Support housekeeping team by cleaning common areas and as needed, guest bedrooms
  • Welcome and engage Ronald McDonald House Manitoba volunteers
  • Participate in the implementation of family-based programs
  • Provide House/Family Room tours for families and/or guests

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Passion for serving others
  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Energetic person with proven skills in customer service and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Calm and caring manner through crisis with a desire to serve others
  • Computer skills with some proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Experience in the hospitality sector is an asset

Starting Hourly Wage: $16.00 per hour.

Full-Time Food Services Supervisor

Ronald McDonald House Manitoba is currently inviting applications for a full-time Food Services Supervisor at our Ronald McDonald House located at 62 Juno Street. Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Reporting to the Volunteer & Programming Manager, the Food Services Supervisor ensures that Ronald McDonald House Manitoba’s meal program meets all standards of health, safety, and sanitation. The Food Services Supervisor also oversees the Home for Dinner and Home Sweet Home programs, assists with ordering products for the meal program, fosters positive relationships with current and new donors, and maintains exceptional records of data, contact information, and other pertinent details. The successful applicant must be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The candidate must exude a caring, professional, and positive attitude and be a team player willing to help wherever needed.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate record keeping of meal program components (Home for Dinner, meal counts, Grab n’ Go, Family Freezer)
  • Communicate relevant meal program news to the Volunteer & Programming Manager or other staff as needed
  • Provide necessary meal program reporting numbers for board reports, grants, marketing or donor purposes, or as needed
  • Update and maintain written guidelines for Ronald McDonald House Manitoba’s Meal Program
  • Strengthen, grow, and create in-kind donor partnerships to support Ronald McDonald House Manitoba’s meal program
  • Manage Wish List to ensure most needed items are included
  • Work with MarCom team on community outreach for Home for Dinner, Home Sweet Home, wish list, etc. as needed
  • Welcome and orient groups as they arrive for Home for Dinner and Home Sweet Home engagements before passing them off to the Meal Programming Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-year experience in administration related field
  • Respect and understand the importance of food safety compliance
  • Ability to multi-task and strong time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication with excellent customer service skills, computer skills, and data entry knowledge
  • Ability to welcome and engage groups into the program
  • Calm and caring manner with a desire to serve others
  • Ability to respond appropriately in the event of an emergency
  • Strong budget and inventory management skills
  • Applicants should be compassionate and kind with interest in supporting Ronald McDonald House Manitoba
  • Asset: Restaurant and/or culinary experience

Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000
